Balkan Tale

Balkan Tale is a multimedia project which is looking for answers that will make it possible to write a new kind of history. A history of the Balkans that holds a magnifying glass to a region of Europe which is still unknown in the West; a place where the nation states have tended to emphasize historical diversity instead of drawing on their collective past. Balkan Tale addresses the cultural heritage and legacy of the Ottoman period across the Balkans. The resulting photo-series sets old buildings/monuments within a new unfamiliar narrative context offering the viewer a new way of looking at the multi-layered history of the region.
