Photography
A selection of photographs put together for an exhibition held at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Skopje, Macedonia. "The exhibition Texture of Life points to the particular intimistic and lyrical sensibility in Blazhev's photographs. Contrary to his practice of topically conceived projects, this time Blazhev opted for a kind of retrospection of his work, certainly not in the sense of his own homage, but most of all as an opportunity for a more elaborate reflection of his aesthetic and artistic positions. The presented selection includes previously unpublished or unexhibited works most of which were made in the context of his documentary projects. One of the questions the exhibition poses is whether the photographs released of the context boundaries in which they were initially made could stand alone while each one of them renders its own particular narrative entity. If setting the photographs in a different context necessarily deconstructs their documentary meaning, then composing of the new narration is somewhere between the fiction and reality. The passing and the overlapping of the visible reality into fiction and imagination, thus creating numerous possible individual narrations and experiences, is the key point of this exhibition." - Zoran Petrovski, curator
